Photographed at Kapama Game Reserve in South Africa, Where Darkness Gathers finds two spotted hyenas at a waterhole after dark.
One stands at the water’s edge to drink, its reflection briefly visible beneath it. Further back, a second hyena moves along the bank, only partially revealed against the surrounding bush.
The darkness is allowed to dominate the frame, leaving much of the surrounding landscape unseen.
