Photographed from a canoe while moving quietly through the waterways of Kosi Bay, South Africa, The Elusive Kingcaptures a Malachite Kingfisher resting amongst the reeds.
Small and remarkably easy to overlook, the bird sat almost hidden within its surroundings. Its vivid blue, orange and red plumage offered brief flashes of colour against the softer, muted tones of the reeds.
A fleeting encounter with one of Kosi Bay’s most striking little residents.
