Photographed near the Three Rondavels in South Africa, Contours of the Wild looks beyond the main viewpoint to the surrounding landscape of layered rock, steep ridges and water below.
From the elevated viewpoint, the shape of the terrain becomes the focus. Exposed bands of red and ochre run through the rock faces, while the water curves between the surrounding peaks beneath a heavy, overcast sky.
Away from the better-known view, the photograph captures the wider character of the landscape — its changing contours, colours and geological layers stretching into the distance.
