Photographed after dark in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, A Glimpse After Dark presents a Southern White-faced Owl settled amongst the branches, looking directly towards the camera.
Against the near-black surroundings, the Owl’s pale, finely marked plumage and vivid orange eyes are brought sharply forward. The rough bark and intersecting branches retain just enough detail to frame the bird naturally, before falling away into darkness.
The result is a quiet nocturnal portrait in which the Owl’s gaze becomes the unmistakable focal point.
